Qualifications to be a surrogate
Becoming a surrogate is a big decision, and we want to make sure it’s safe, healthy, and the right fit for you and the intended parents. Here are the basic qualifications:
Health & Lifestyle
Must be between 21–42 years old
Have had at least one healthy pregnancy and birth
Be raising your own child(ren)
No major complications in previous pregnancies
Live a healthy lifestyle (non-smoker, no illicit drug use, minimal alcohol)
Medical & Legal
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Have a healthy BMI 19%-32%
Willing to undergo medical and psychological screenings
No history of serious mental health conditions
Must live in a surrogacy-friendly state
Personal Qualities
Reliable, responsible, and compassionate
Supportive home environment (partner/spouse support if applicable)
Willing to commit to the surrogacy journey 12+ months and follow medical guidance
